I’ve always been told that gargling with hot salt water will cure almost all ailments for sore throat syndrome. Whenever the sickness would arise that would be the first and last step in the cleanse. I have no idea if it actually had any impact or not. My understanding of the cure is that the salt helps disinfect and kill all bacteria. The question now that I am left with is wondering why I don’t just eat something salty? Won’t it have the same effect? At the very least won’t the hypothesis make me feel as good as the original theory. It does. So last night I worked my way through a bag of BBQ sunflower seeds. My mouth is a bit numb because of all the salt (a normal reaction) but my throat feels better than it did yesterday, so it must have worked.
